Aquatic therapy uses the physical properties of water to assist in patient healing and exercise performance. The fastest way to recover from pain/injury is to begin the rehab process, but often, pain levels impact the ability to start. The pain commonly associated with rehab can be decreased / eliminated in water because it reduces the weight bearing on joints. The warmth of the water experienced during aquatic therapy assists in relaxing muscles and increases blood flow to injured areas. Patients with muscle spasms, back pain, and fibromyalgia find this aspect of aquatic therapy especially therapeutic.

Conditions commonly treated with Aquatic Therapy:

  • Post-surgical/Total joint replacements
  • Multi-trauma injuries (fractures, soft tissue injury, auto injuries)
  • Orthopedic injuries
  • Spine conditions (strains/sprains, Spinal stenosis, disc herniations)
  • Athletic injuries (osteoarthritis, rheumatoid, fibromyalgia)
  • Neurological disorders (Multiple sclerosis, Guillian barre, Muscular dystrophy)
  • Arthritic conditions
  • Pregnancy
  • Obesity

Following a doctor referral a licensed therapist will complete an evaluation then design a program of movement and exercise to meet your individual needs.

Aquatic (water) therapy is quickly becoming well-known for its amazing effects on decreasing pain, speeding recovery, preventing injury, and improving function.

Headaches are a common ailment that most, if not all of us, have suffered at some time. They can vary in severity from being very mild to debilitating.

A number of different sources have been attributed as sources of headaches, including the vascular origin of migraines as well muscular “tension” which can also cause headaches. What may not be as well known is that many headaches can be treated with physical therapy. There is a very strong relationship between the cervical spine (or neck) and the nerves which innervate the head. As a result of this, problems that originate in the cervical spine can actually cause headaches.

A physical therapist can help address cervical problems, which have caused or contributed to headaches. At Dynamic Performance, a physical therapist will perform a thorough evaluation that includes a “segmental” assessment of the cervical and thoracic spine as well as other structures (muscles of the neck, jaw and intra – oral musculature) which can help identify the cause of your headaches.

Once the key problems have been identified, the physical therapist will guide the patient in treatment including education in posture and activity modifications, manual techniques, exercise as well as other options. Education is an important part of the process as often-repeated behavioral tendencies can be identified and modified which may be contributing to the headaches. Manual therapy can help address problems in the neck and upper back as well.

A specialized program that can identify causes of headaches and eliminate the pain.

At Dynamic Performance, we understand the aches and pains that an active lifestyle can produce. That is why we have created a comprehensive Free Injury Assessment program to offer you guidance on your injuries. Through our relationships at many community Senior Centers and Recreation Centers, we are providing on-site licensed medical professionals to perform free injury assessments for members and paid guests of those facilities.

A Dynamic Performance medical professional (Licensed Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant or Certified Athletic Trainer) will perform a thorough evaluation for each scheduled injury assessment. We begin by collecting information about the history of your injury as well as identify current activities that cause your symptoms to occur. We will then perform a physical examination on each patient to assess strength, range of motion, and pinpoint your area of pain. Finally, we will guide you in the right direction to recovery. We may provide you with exercises or stretches, recommend modifying your workout, or refer you to a physician for further medical evaluation.

If you are experiencing pain and would like more information about scheduling a free injury assessment close to you, please complete and submit the form below and we will contact you shortly.

If you have nagging aches and pains that are slowing you down and don’t know what to do, let one of our licensed medical professionals take a look at it for free.

Myofascial Release is the treatment of musculoskeletal immobility and pain through the use of soft tissue therapy techniques. It is gentle and consistently effective often relieving chronic pain when "traditional" therapies only provide temporary relief. Injury, swelling and/or surgical intervention creates restrictions in the fascia that covers underlying muscles thus restricting motion and producing pain. Myofascial release treats this pain and improves movement of the body.

Insurance companies will pay for Physical Therapy as long as it is “medically necessary" and they can see documented progress. Most patients are able to progress such that they can be discharged from therapy with a home program (exercises) and do very well within the time/visitation limits mandated by insurance.

However, some patients request to continue their therapy beyond the limitations established by insurance. We are happy to be able to provide physical therapy under a Wellness Program. As a Wellness patient, you may come in as needed or per a schedule that you and your therapist establish. Your therapist will re-evaluate you periodically and send updates to your doctor.
